Repeat, Replicate, Duplicate, Distribute (2008) is both a performance and installation piece given a space in which I (as performer) am sometimes present, sometimes not. Sitting at an office table, I attempt to transcribe one digital photograph from a binary computer printout to exposed photographic paper using a manual typewriter with no ink. To alter just one character in the entire 288 page 0/1 sequence would change or ruin the photograph, so I must copy the information with absolute accuracy. Ultimately, I find that I am unable to finish a single page without making a mistake and have to continually start over where I began.
